The 2014 edition of the Vans Warped Tour arrived in Mountain View, California bright and early with plenty to offer fans and those just there for the experience. Aside from the literally dozens of bands performing on seven stages, Warped also served as an arena for various DJ’s, MC’s, and karaoke superstars. Boasting what felt like hundreds of merch tents, Warped Tour feels like a giant carnival complete with sideshow acts and clown-like hair standing out in the massive hyper crowds.

Check out our interview withThe Protomen – click here certainly one of the more unique acts on the Warped Tour this year, dressed in black uniforms with faces covered in silver space rock makeup reminiscent of Ace Frehely. The Protomen discuss their synthesizer-heavy rock opera experience, being on Warped Tour, and their biggest fan, Gary Busey.

The energy within the massive confines of Mountain View’s Shoreline Amphitheater was perpetuated throughout the all-day festival by the endless amount of bands that played until sunset. Fan favorites The Ghost Inside and Motionless in White did their best to generate more energy during their sets by saluting the cup champion LA Kings. The Ghost Inside frontman Jonathan Vigil intensely rocked a Mike Richards jersey during the band’s set.

Pop punk violin-toting veterans Yellowcard offered a kinetic set very early in the day. The bands and the crowd’s grew more rowdy as the tour moved through the afternoon. The Devil Wears Prada performed on the Electric Soul stage before a jumpy crowd in the early evening and delivered with a dare I say brutal set that kept those watching and listening awake as the night dragged on.

Shortly thereafter, the pale-faced black haired makeup-heavy Motionless in White graced the stage as one of them rocked a Cruella de Vil ensemble complete with red lipstick. One of the last bands to perform, Motionless in White singer Chris Motionless remarked that he was surprised to see an energetic crowd at 8PM.

The fans that paid to go to Warped Tour seemed to get their money’s worth. Warped offered a party-like atmosphere featuring so many bands that everyone in attendance had to like at least one. This festival stands out as an amazing marathon of fun and live music.
