In front of many crazy fan girls, Framing Hanley played their last show in the Columbus at the Al Rosa Villa last month. Joining Framing Hanley’s farewell tour were the Heartist, Titans in Time, and Goodnight Tonight. The Al Rosa Villa, located in east Columbus, has been home to many concerts and music fest over the past 41 years. Its age can be seen, but it adds to the metal and underground concert scene. The Al Rosa Villa is not a very big venue. There is something about smaller venues though, they always make bands sound pretty good.

Opening up the tour at the Al Rosa was an alternative rock band named Goodnight Tonight. Hailing from Kent, Ohio, Goodnight Tonight fronts a strong female vocalist/guitarist by the name of Emily Gambone. She leads the band consisting of bassist Holly Camp, guitarist Drew Spreitzer, and drummer Brad Sims. They threw down with tracks from an album in the making, such as; This Time, Counting Sheep, and Heartbreaker.

Titans in Time was another band that rocked the Al Rosa on May 9th. Basically, if Five Finger Death Punch and Slipknot got together and somehow had a baby, that’s what Titans in Time would sound like. They played songs from their debut EP, Oceanus including Sleepless, Firefight and Broken Vow. All of their songs have some shredding solos that are performed masterfully by lead guitarist Matt Devonshire. For someone who loves a good song with some epic double bass pedals, Matt Bryson blew me away with some kick pedal rolls during every song. Titans in Time had a good surprise for those who enjoy the heavier side of rock. They performed a cover of A Day to Remember’s song “Mr. Highway’s Thinking About the End”. Being an avid listener of ADTR I couldn’t help but jam out to that cover.

Heartist also came to party at the Al Rosa Villa. The quintet from Orange County California are a great group of guys to hang out with and brought the hard hitting tracks from their debut album Feeding Fiction (2014 RoadRunner Records). Skeletons, Pressure Point and Black Cloud are the leading tracks off of that full length that Heartist threw down with. During the concert however, Heartist was experiencing some guitar malfunctions, but you couldn’t even tell that they played their entire set missing one of their guitarists! In speaking to guitarist Tim Koch asking about new music, he said they are preparing to enter the studio and have big things planned. Music to my ears!!! Heartist was my favorite band that played at the Al Rosa. My younger turned me on to them a few years ago and I have been an avid listener ever since. I can’t wait to see what new music they have in store for later in the year.

Closing out the night at the Al Rosa was the band everyone came to see, Framing Hanley. Framing Hanley is known as an alternative rock band with an emo flare. Their music videos were always the best because they always included some pretty fine women that were, let’s say scantily clad. This was just one stop in their FHarewell Tour that is set to go all over the United States. Girls young enough to be my sister and women old enough to be my grandmother all banded together to make Framing Hanley’s last show in Columbus one to never forget. Hitting the stage with tracks such as 23 Days and Hear Me Now, Framing Hanley left an impression on everyone under that roof. Even though they may be disbanding they will still be playing jams in everyone’s hearts! Feeding Fiction is the debut full length album by Heartist released on August 8th 2014 on Roadrunner Record Oceanus is the first EP released by unsigned Titans In Time. The album dropped on March 21st 2015.
