Album Review after a 6 year hiatus Magrudergrind releases II on Relapse

Artist: Magrudergrind
Album: Magrudergrind II
Label: Relapse Records
Release Date: January 29, 2016
By: Josh Kutras

Listening to the new Magrudergrind gives me the same feeling I had as a kid the first time I heard bands like DRI, or Napalm Death. That exact feeling? Whoa, holy fucking shit. It’s like your head caving in on your brain and violently impaling it onto your spine… In a good way, I mean.

Magrudergrind II is the trio’s first full length in six years, and their debut for Relapse Records, finds the boys angry as ever about the mounting problems we face every minute of every day as occupants of Planet Earth. Chock full of palm muted riffage, machine gun drums, and vocalist Avi Kulawy topping it all of with a throat bleeding good performance, II stands tall a midst a sea of imitators, it’s the real fuckin’ thing.

This record is so damn good, I won’t be surprised when it’s cited by future generations to come as a major influence. Grab yourself a copy, grab one for a friend, and whatever you do hold the fuck on when you press play.
