“You had to be there. It was out of sight,” Dead and Company kicked off their summer tour with an intimate free “friends and family” concert at the historic Fillmore in San Francisco California. The last time more than one member of the Grateful Dead performed on this stage was 12-21-1969. All told clocking in 47 shows from 65-69 before moving on to the larger Fillmore West venue down the street.

An amazing two and half hour set that was all business with a short intermission and no drums/space segment. The night kicked off with an extended St. Stephen that set the tone for the rest of the evening.  Sammy Hagar joined in for a run through Loose Lucy before the first bust out of the evening: an eloquently played Dylan cover,  Queen Jan Approximately.  Brown Eyed Woman closed out the short first set.

The second bust out Big Railroad Blues kicked off the second set but the real fun began with massive jamming on the John Perry Barlow penned Estimated Prophet. The house nearly came down when a beautiful but short Dark Star emerged into a rocking The Other One. Bobby took it down a notch with the evenings finalbust out Days Between before closing out he set with China > Rider. The evening ended with a nice Brokedown Palace and a sweet poster, nothing left to do bu smile, smile, smile.
